Senior Python/Django Developer

Luvo, the leading learning resource marketplace for college students, is currently seeking a Senior Python Developer. Are you passionate about the convergence of technology and education? As a member of the engineering team, you will help design, build, and grow the technology platform that powers the Luvo marketplace. You will work with a small team of talented engineers who share your passion for education, innovation, elegant architecture, and solid, quality code.

We are looking for developers who:

  • Have a proven experience building and maintaining cloud-based, distributed applications and solutions.
  • Have 5+ years development experience, including significant, practical experience with at least one dynamic language (we use Python).
  • Understand how to work with databases, how to leverage an ORM, and how to achieve consistent performance at scale.
  • Thrive in a collaborative environment where team members support one another, learn from each other, and work together to find solutions.
  • Believe in writing readable, well-organized, and documented code that still makes sense 6 months later.
  • Are self-motivated, and get things done without direct supervision.

Experience with any of the following would be a plus:

  • Python, especially Django. (If you’ve used other dynamic languages and web frameworks, that counts, too.)
  • AWS, or another IaaS/PaaS.
  • Designing, building, and consuming REST APIs.
  • Test automation – if you’ve engaged in TDD or BDD, that’s even better.
  • Building for ecommerce.

The Senior Python Developer will:

  • Develop features and solutions in an Agile environment.
  • Participate in planning and design with the engineering team, UX designer, QA, and product owners.
  • Review code from other team members.
  • Continually improve quality and test coverage of the code base through test automation.

If you can provide code samples or your Github page, we’d love to take a look.
