How to Make the Most of Your Dorm Room Closet

Dorm room closets can be small, like extremely small! Make the best of the space you have by picking up some tips and tricks on learn how to utilize and maximize your dorm room closet!

Purge anything unnecessary. Before you move, go through your closet and decide what you’re going to take to school with you, and what you’re going to leave at home. Many students make the mistake of packing too many things that just aren’t necessary.

Pack what you’ll only need for the semester. If you can, pack only what you will need for the current semester. If you end of living too far from home to only pack what you need for the semester, try bundling your extra stuff and storing them under your bed.

Organize. Your closet will look so much nicer and possibly even bigger if your clothes are organized.

Purchase a shoe rack or shoe organizer. You will save a ton of space by purchasing a shoe rack that can go behind your closet door. A shoe rack keeps all your shoes organized and within sight.

Purchase a belt and/or scarf organizer. You can purchase one of these at a local Home Goods or Target for only a few dollars.

Purchase fold up skirt hangers. These are a little pricer than normal hangers but will definitely help save space! You can purchase these hangers at Target.

Utilize your shelf space and dresser. For your shelf space, consider getting mini baskets for your stuff. This can help maximize the space you have. Don’t forget about your dresser! Use your dresser for t-shirts, athletic shorts, leggings, yoga pants, pajamas, undergarments, socks, and swimsuits.
