Genius Week: A Culture of Innovation at Luvo

1

At Luvo we maintain a culture of innovation within our development team and across the organization as a whole. It is often difficult to balance taking time to explore new ideas and getting features delivered to support our core business. In order to help us live up to our goals we made a concerted effort to set aside time for innovation.

In mid-January we completed our very first Genius Week. Prior to the start of the week each of our developers completed detailed project proposals that described a research project or prototype that they wanted to work on. With some guidance from the development managers we were able to get all of these projects approved!

“We try to balance trying completely new and experimental things with incubating solutions that may end up in our core system” said Jim Hagan, team manager and one of the Genius Week sponsors. At the end of the week each developer delivered a presentation to our entire staff. The projects were well received by technical and non-technical staff alike.
